How Does Your Family Rate?

How can parents instill a peaceable lifestyle in their children? Do children learn more by words or by actions? How to Teach Peace to Children speaks to issues that are front and center for parents-building family relationships, teaching care for others in the neighborhood and around the world, guiding children in the way of nonviolence.
Based on the best-selling book by J. Lorne Peachey, this new edition gives practical suggestions to help families pattern their lives after Jesus' words and actions while dealing with modern stresses.
Easy-to-read chapters focus on family "hot spots" like working through conflicts, sharing household tasks, adding meaning to celebrations, and encouraging healthy, nonviolent play. Resource lists introduce parents, educators, and librarians to books, videos, web sites, organizations, and ideas that promote a shalom lifestyle for families.

I am grateful to Susan Mark Landis for her encouragement in the preparation of these resources
over the years and her oversight of the original Mennonite Peace and Justice Committee website, and to Stan Harder, for donating his expertise in web design to this site. May God multiply the efforts of everyone who tries to spread shalom in the world.
