Peace Sunday worship resources!

The theme for Peace Sunday, November 9, 2003, is The Peaceable Mission: the interconnection between mission, evangelism, peace, and justice. It is based upon John 20:19-23. This downloadable material contains an introduction to the theme; possible texts with related themes; a sample service with litanies, hymn suggestions, and prayers; children's time and activities; ideas for practicing peace, justice, and mission; and a list of resources.

Your congregation may use the suggested service as it is or create your own. Other biblical texts and reflections are provided for constructing your own service around the broad theme of the peaceable mission. Prayers and litanies from the sample service may be used with other related themes. Since bringing peace and mission together calls for more than worship and study, examples are given concerning how peace and justice should be integrated into the church's mission and practice. Resources are provided for further study and reflection on bringing mission, evangelism, peace, and justice together.
