Prepare myself for nonviolent direct action by attending the MCC training
*  Journey To Jerusalem: Walking the Path of Non-violence
Sorry, the training is now over.

December 6, 7 & 8 2002 MCC US Peace and Justice Ministries will sponsor a training on non-violence. In the gospel of Mark Jesus provided a counter story to the violence of his time. With each encounter along the way to Jerusalem Jesus spoke truth to power. Today, as Anabaptists, we too need to find ways to speak truth to power. This training will provide a theological dialogue on non-violence, learning what it means to live out a life of nonviolence and providing options and skills on speaking truth to power. James Lawson, whom Martin Luther King called "the greatest teacher on non-violence in America" will be the plenary speaker. The training team includes Ruby Sales, Titus Peachey, Brenda Zook Friesen and Felipe Hinojosa (tentative).

For registration information call Peace and Justice Ministries at (717) 859-3889 and ask for Tina Hartman or register online at http://www.mcc.org/journeytojerusalem

Participate in or organize an anti-war congregational public witness in front of government buildings or a sit-in at policy markers' offices. Work with people who have nonviolent training and know the legal consequences of these actions.
*  Preparing for a public prayer service
      - Elements of a Nonviolent Action Campaign
      - Peacekeeper Guidelines
      - Creating Publicity Materials for a public action or prayer service
      - Look to the Holy One: Candlelight Prayer Vigil On the Eve of War

Take part in a Christian Peacemaker Team violence reduction event or delegation to Iraq. Raise the alarm by banging on pots and pans to make our leaders listen to our voice for peace.

Carry out a Work Sabbath by taking off several hours of work to pray and to contact my legislative representatives, if U.S. military troops invade Iraq.
