Sign a letter in opposition to a U.S. invasion of Iraq
UPDATE
Your congregation's quick attention to Jim Schrag's letter to President Bush has
earned you a place in Mennonite history! Who knows if this will ever be recorded
officially, but in less than two weeks' time, more than 10% of Mennonites,
from about 25% of our congregations, added their signatures to the letter,
telling President Bush that war will add to the misery of the Iraqi people
and asking that he consider alternatives to invasion.
Because some congregations didn't find out about this project,
we continued accepting signatures through the end of September.
Thank you for finding time for this peace action in the midst of
your busy congregational life.

Another Letter by Churches for Middle East Peace: Jim Schrag spoke at the Churches for Middle East Peace press conference report. Here is their press release. The Churches for Middle East Peace sent this letter September 12 letter to President Bush. Jim Schrag signed for Mennonite Church USA.
This program invited Mennonites to make visible their opposition to a U.S.
invasion of Iraq by signing a Mennonite Church USA letter to President Bush(20k PDF or HTML).
We believed that if we could gather at least 5000 signatures and deliver this letter September 12, 2002,
our voices would have an impact on President Bush's policy decisions. Our expectations were greatly exceeded.
