Tools for our time: congregations in a country at war

We live in a country that will be at war for the foreseeable future. As Christian people, we need information and encouragement to help us hear God's call as we seek to live as peacemakers in the United States.

On April 12, 2005, Susan Mark Landis, peace advocate, Executive Leadership, hosted a phone call and live internet broadcast to
* draw us together in worship and community,
* inform us,
* equip us to be Christians of peace in the United States, and
* send us out in action.

Note from Susan

Friends,
Thanks for being a part of this time together, whether you listened live or are listening now to the archive. Approximately 800 people listened live. These issues matter to us, but we are not alone-hundreds of people across the church also care. This gives me faith in who we are and want to be as Mennonites living under Christ's lordship.

I apologize that some of you found the logistics difficult. We learned several wording and software lessons and plan to improve.

Please drop me a note and let me know about your experience and your counsel for possible additional phone calls.

Since interest in these topics is so great, we'll continue adding resources to these pages and answers to your questions. Check back. Costs

No one was charged for the call or the web link. We hope donations will cover costs. Well, truthfully, they must, so the Peace Advocate program can operate the remainder of the year!

Phone lines cost $7.50 for the call. Setting up the web link cost $350 regardless of the number of people who use the link. The amazing number of participants means costs will near $1000-but that is less than $1.50/listener!

Make checks to Mennonite Church USA (Peace Advocate phone-in on the memo line) and mail to: Peace Advocate Office, P.O. Box 173, Orrville OH 44667. Thanks!
