Mary Beth Lind
Mary Beth Lind graduated from Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg, Va., with a degree in home economics, and from Oregon State University in Corvallis with a degree in foods and nutrition. She is a registered dietitian and has done nutritional consulting. She and her husband, Lester, work together in market gardening and founded Mountain Retreat, a retreat center in rural West Virginia. They are members of Philippi (W.Va.) Mennonite Church. Mary Beth grew up near her family's steam-powered gristmill in West Virginia, and she and her sister, Sarah E. Myers, are co-authors of Recipes from the Old Mill: Baking with Whole Grains (Good Books, 1995). Mary Beth is also co-author with Cathleen Hockman-Wert of Simply in Season, a cookbook published in 2005 by Mennonite Central Committee and Herald Press.
