Myron S. Augsburger
Myron S. Augsburger has served in many contexts, from the local church to international evangelistic preaching missions, including ecumenical efforts across the United States and Canada. He has served as an evangelist, church planter and pastor, as well as moderator of the Mennonite Church, 1987-89. He was the founding pastor of Washington Community Fellowship, on Capitol Hill, in 1981 and served as the congregation's senior pastor until 1994. He did preaching missions for 50 years, in the United States, Canada, Asia, Africa and the Middle East. Myron has five earned degrees, including a ThD from Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, Va. He served as president of Eastern Mennonite College (now University) in Harrisonburg, Va., from 1965-80, where he was also professor of theology. He was president of the Council of Christian Colleges and Universities, 1988-95. He is the author of numerous articles and more than 20 books, including two historical novels. Myron and his wife, the artist Esther Augsburger, live in Harrisonburg and are the parents of three and grandparents of two.
