We pray for military personnel in Iraq.
Keep them safe, O Lord, from the despair and fear that can come from being far from loved ones and the familiarity of home.
When they cry out in loneliness, God, comfort them.
Shelter their bodies and their souls from harm.
Love them, Lord, that they might learn love to share with others.
Guide them as they are faced with life and death decisions.

We pray for the families and friends of members of the armed forces who worry and wait and wonder.
May they find a community to hold their hands and put their trust in you.

Comfort all of us with the knowledge
that neither death,
nor life,
nor angels,
nor rulers,
nor things present,
nor things to come,
nor powers,
nor height,
nor depth,
nor anything else in all creation,
will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Amen.
