meet the blogger Jennifer Davis Sensenig
Jennifer was baptized by her youth pastor in one of Minnesota’s 10,000+ lakes. Her whole congregation (Baptist) waded into the water to share that experience. At age 20 she responded to God’s call by serving with Mennonite Voluntary Service in Manitoba, Canada. Through voluntary service she learned about community living, ministry among marginalized women and children, simplicity, and daily discipleship. After graduating from Carleton College (Northfield, MN) she earned an M.Div. at Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary (AMBS) where she also met her husband Kent and deepened a commitment to Jesus especially in terms of interpreting scripture. In 1998 she accepted a call to Cedar Falls Mennonite Church where she served as a solo pastor for five years. Jennifer says, “For me, pastoral ministry is a great way to pursue a life of discipleship.” Today she is an associate pastor at Pasadena Mennonite Church in Pasadena, CA.
Jennifer’s recent ministry beyond the local congregation includes teaching Biblical interpretation at the Center for Anabaptist Leadership, serving as an event pastor with !Explore--a theological education program for high school youth sponsored by AMBS, writing the 2005 Bible study for Mennonite Women, sponsoring a group at Fuller Seminary called Anabaptist Perspectives, and teaching and preaching at churchwide events.
