Ball of String

posted by Kara on 05/20/2007 at 14:38 GMT

The world is like a ball of string (How profound is that!), it's all tangled up and will literally take centuries to untangle. With problems like poverty, cancer, AIDS and holes in the ozone layer, why add another knot? If people would just stop picking fights with each other, we might actually get something done about the rest of the problems. If we stopped spending huge amounts of money on the war in Iraq, well maybe that money could fund research into alternative energy sources. We just need to work at a small section of the knot at one time. If we found an effective cure for AIDS and spread that throughout the world, people would probably be less inclined to try to kill Americans. If we show that we care about the hardships others face, maybe we can make friends with those who would be our enemies. All of this is a bit simplistic, but who knows, if everyone worked at untangling a tiny piece of knot, we might get somewhere in the untangling of the world. So go out there and pick your piece of the knot.
