Mennonite Church Peace Resources for Youth

Okay, now I know this is a website dedicated to peace and therefore we are against the military, but still. I know the military branches are the ones who are going over there and killing people, but I still think they deserve our respect. We may not agree with what they are doing, but they are actually willing to die to protect us from what they view as a threat. I am not saying they are right in what they do, because I don't think they are. But they have chosen a course that has long been considered one of most honorable and respected. Members of the military may seem like they are the ones who are causing the problem by going over there and fighting and killing people, but let's not forget that there are plenty of young American men who believe this is the right thing to do and are being sent out and KILLED by other people. I have found a good book if you would like to know more about why the military works the way it does. It is always good to understand the force you fight against.The book is called "A Civilians Guide to the U.S. Military" by Barbara Schading, Ph.D. (Incidentally, think about the title of this blog. Get it, don't belittle members of the military!)
