Closing prayer

Used in the May 29, 2003 Phone-in Conversation

God of all races and ages,
Give us your spiritual vision,
That we see our neighbors and enemies as your son and savior of the world sees them.
Fill us with your peace, O Lord.

God of wisdom,
Give us discernment in what we see and hear,
That we seek your truth in the cacophony of voices we hear daily.
Fill us with your peace, O Lord.

God of perseverance,
Give us patience in the midst of this rushrush world,
That we refuse to seek quick fixes to ancient problems.
Fill us with your peace, O Lord.

God of strength
Give us steadfastness when we tremble before the powers,
That we speak your words of truth with boldness.
Fill us with your peace, O Lord.

God of miracles,
Give us courage to do that which we are quite certain we cannot,
That our actions bespeak your glory.
Fill us with your peace, O Lord.

God of the Word,
Give us tongues of kindness and insight,
That we may speak your saving peace and grace to the people we meet.
Fill us with your peace, O Lord.

God of assurance,
Give us freedom from our stagnating fears,
That we can offer healing and hope to our anxious neighbors.
Fill us with your peace, O Lord.

God of vitality,
Give us great big gobs of "get up and go"
That we may have vigor for the long haul.
Fill us with your peace, O Lord.

God of mystery,
Give us a sense of wonder,
That we find hope in what we cannot see.
Fill us with your peace, O Lord.

God of love,
Give us true companions on this journey,
That we have arms to bear us up when we stumble.
Fill us with your peace, O Lord.

God of the universe,
Give us our home in you,
That our citizenship in your kingdom rules our lives.
Fill us with your peace, O Lord.

And now my friends, go forth to live your hopes, and not your fears, knowing that you are held in holy hands, by a love that will not let you go. In the name of the Creator, the Redeemer, and the Sustainer, Amen.
