Weekly Ads for Peace in Iraq
Through our 'Weekly Ads for Peace in Iraq' program, we provide you with a copy of several advertisements
which you can place in your local newspapers.
Our intent is that you will run the ad weekly until the United States withdraws from Iraq.
Each week, we will provide you with updated statistics to include in your ad.
Goals:
- Help your neighbors understand that war is not the will of God.
- Provoke thinking about the long-term actual costs of war: death, destruction, mental illness, refugees, and the economic issues in the United States not being addressed.

Planning your Weekly Ad for Peace |
 |
- Gather a group of peace pals and consider your local goals by thinking about the message your community is ready to hear and comparing it to what you think God wants your community to hear. How will you respond to anger or fear that you arouse?
- Contact people who might help pay for the ad, explaining your goal and purpose and asking them to commit a weekly amount until the United States withdraws from Iraq.
- Get ad rates from your local newspaper. Find out if they will give you a discount, either as a church group or because you're running a weekly ad.
- Download one or all of our ad templates.
- Use a word processor to edit the statistics and dates in the ad text. Visit our Iraq Stats page for current statistics
Let us know what you're doing!
or mail a copy of the ad (and subsequent letters to the editor) to Peace Advocate, PO Box 173, Orrville OH 44667

Suggestions for creating your own ad |
 |
If you wish to create your own ad, or modify one of our templates, your weekly ad might include
- attention-getting photo or graphic,
- Bible verse,
- statistics,
- credits for the photo or statistics,
- an invitation to visit your congregation or peace meeting or local vigil or website (feel free to recommend the PJSN website: www.MennoniteUSA.org/peace) and/or
- names of people who paid for the ad.
Keep it simple and uncluttered for higher impact.
